Why Do People Argue?

Greetings to you all. Today will be known as Talk to Me Tuesday and the topic is "Why Do People Argue?" The definition of argue is to give reasons or cite in support of an idea, action, or theory to persuade others to share one's view. It is also defined as an exchange of opposite views, typically in a heated or angry way. Are we really listening and comprehending what the opposing side is trying to convey? Do the other person even know that there is an issue? The true meaning of arguing is saying, "My way is the right way" and if you don't do it my way then I will make your life miserable.

We are all guilty of this. But instead of playing the blame and shame game, why not change the strategy and approach all matters with open ears and a closed mouth to seek resolution. It has become sickening to continue to see post after post about what someone else is doing and not realizing or considering why people do what they do. We get so caught up in the moment, that we forget that we all have different opinions, values, ethics, and morale standards due to our heritage, culture, ethnicity, environment, and biases. By not looking out for your own interest and taking interest in others, is where you will find compromise.

Now don't think I am naïve to think that every situation can be handled in this manner, but more times than not, when you come to a fight with a gun loaded, then the gun will be used. So to all of my keyboard warriors, before you hit that send button, ask yourself, am I being a conflict resolver and looking for a solution that will work for all or am I being selfish in my one track mindset with this post? #SPEAK2MYHEART
